   I have the previous model and have been all over the United States with it. It works very well and I love having an idea of whether the signal is from in front behind or to the side. I bought this new version for my Ford raptor and put the previous version in my RV.

   My issue is with Amazon not uniden. It had issues right out of the box, Everytime the unit went off only the rear arrow would show no matter the direction the signal was coming from. I called uniden and the answered immediately, i wasn’t even on hold they were super friendly and and helped diagnose the issues. They told me that I can send it into them for them to fix it but because I just bought it they recommended that I send it back for a replacement. Amazon will not let me get a replacement they only offer a refund which they said will take 3 weeks to a month to receive Where then I can order a new one after I get my refund.

   The Uniden R8w is the best radar detector I have ever used. The range is extremely long, and the arrows allow me to know what direction the radar signal is coming from. The new Uniden R-Tach app allows you to easily configure the settings and update firmware right from your phone. And with the new firmware it allows you to put in custom settings to block out literally every K band blind spot false from other cars. There is no better windshield mounted radar detector on the market. When you pair this detector with the Highway Radar Android app, Its virtually impossible to get caught speeding. Even when going up against instant on radar, it alerts you to ka band in just 0.2 seconds. You can press the brakes faster than the police officer can read your speed. The big suction cup mount included with it is a very secure and it doesn’t bounce or shake when driving over bumps in the road. Also the speaker on the unit is very loud and can be heard even when listening to loud music. I drive over 50 miles every day to and from work. I think the speed limits are pathetically slow. 60 mph is the speed limit on the interstates where I live. Its stupid! I go 20-30 mph over the limit, and never once have I been caught. Forget about Escort, every one of their radar detectors have so many problems, and their service and firmware updates suck. If you want to drive with no limits, buy a Uniden radar detector!

   You can manually silence permanently any annoying false bank doors connivence stores etc. I love it

   Until now I had a Beltronics RX 65 from 2008. I can say that Uniden is more sensitive, it gets a lot of false alarms but you can mute them. The bad part is the display. When the sunshine hits, you can’t see what is on display. I think that I will buy a mirror mount to put the detector in a place where sunshine gets a little less than my actual place (windshield and rest on dashboard)
   On Beltronics didn’t have this problem. It saves you the sound.
